Service ‘A' & ‘B'

Since 1998 all new Merceds-Benz vehicles are equipped with the flexible service system FSS ‘wrench light' on your dashboard witch lets you know when it's time for a regular Maintenance service. An electronic monitor checks the quantity and condition of your engine oil.

The flexible service system FSS accommodates the service requirements created by your individual driving style. By constantly monitoring your engine oil, the FSS may extend the service internal, witch averages about 10,000 miles, without sacrificing the performance and protection you expect from your Merceds-Benz.

FSS evaluates engine temperature, oil level, vehicle speed, engine idle speed, distance driving and the time elapsed since your last oil service. Each time you start your engine after you are approximately 2,500 miles or 30 days from requiring service, the dashboard readout displays a 10 second message telling you when your vehicle is due for service.

The advanced version of FSS also alerts you when your oil level is below minimum or above maximum. In addition to ‘A' or ‘B' services, you should check the following items regularly and prior to any long trip:

 
  • Engine oil level & conditions
  • Coolant level Brake fluid level
  • Air filter conditon, clean or not
  • Tires pressure and condition
  • Wiper blades & windshield washing fluid
